LOS ANGELES, Nov. 17 (UPI) -- Justin Bieber has taken to social media to write a heartfelt tribute about a friend killed during the attacks on Paris.

A former member of Bieber's team, Universal Music Group executive Thomas Ayad died Friday during the attack on the Bataclan theater during the Eagles of Death concert that left 89 others dead.

UMG chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge confirmed Ayad's death writing "We have confirmed that Thomas Ayad, an international product manager for Mercury Records lost his life in the attack on the theater. This is an unspeakably appalling tragedy," in a note to staffers.

On Monday, the pop star tweeted about Ayad and how his death weighed heavy on his thoughts.

"Still thinking about Paris and my friend Thomas that we lost in the tragedy. He was a part of the team for years and I wish I would've had more time to thank him," he wrote adding, "Make sure to appreciate people while you have them. Thanks Thomas for everything you did for me. You are appreciated and missed. Thoughts and prayers are with your family & friends #PrayForParis."

Bieber also paid tribute to the victims of the attack Saturday during the taping of Nickelodoeon's 2015 Halo awards in which he asked the crowd for a moment of silence to honor the victims and encouraged the children in the audience to "make this world a little bit better."

Earlier this month, Bieber announced plans to go on tour soon after the release of his latest album, Purpose.
