Bollywood icon Saeed Jaffrey dead at 86

LONDON, Nov. 16 (UPI) -- Bollywood icon Saeed Jaffrey has died in London, Jaffrey Associates confirmed. He was 86.

His niece Shaheen Aggarwal announced the Indian-born actor's death on Facebook Sunday.

"Today, a generation of Jaffreys has passed away. Saeed Jaffrey has joined his brothers and sister and is rejoicing in the lap of his Heavenly Father, eternally," Aggarwal wrote in her post.

The BBC said Jaffrey suffered a brain hemorrhage at his London home, collapsed and never regained consciousness.

The actor appeared in more than 100 Bollywood productions, including The Chess Players, during his decades-long career. His other film credits include A Passage to India, Gandhi, The Man Who Would Be King and My Beautiful Laundrette.
