LOS ANGELES, Nov. 12 (UPI) -- Jaime Lee Curtis recreated her mother Janet Leigh's famous shower scene from the classic Alfred Hitchcock film Psycho Tuesday night.
The actress stepped into the bath during the latest episode of Scream Queens on Fox, ultimately facing not Norman Bates as her mother's character did in the 1960 flick, but the show's Red Devil villain.
"[The writers] wrote a scene in the shower that was reminiscent of one my mom did," Curtis said on The Talk Tuesday. "I've avoid the shower -- I've avoided all of it -- for a very long time. I always felt that it was my mother's legacy."
But Curtis explained she felt the timing is right, going through with the scene although it was emotional to complete. "It was thrilling," she said. "I texted my sister crying...it's a big deal."
After recreating the scene several weeks ago, the famed TV actress took to Instagram to share her thoughts. "Just recreated, with help from the amazing crew, a shot by shot of my mother's famous shower scene from Hitchcock's PSYCHO for @screamqueensfox...Ryan Murphy and co. wrote it into a special episode and it felt right! Honoring the Royal Legend that is/was/will always be Janet Leigh. Thought all fans of the genre will love it!"

While channeling her mother's legacy, the 56-year-old actress is a supportive mother herself, taking time to attend gaming conventions with her son, Thomas. Over the weekend, Curtis shared a photo of herself cosplaying a World of Warcraft character while at BlizzCon 2015.
"Went incognito 2 BilzzCon 2015," she wrote alongside the before and after photos of her costume. "@Warcraft It was E P I C! What a wonderful World of Warcraft this is."
While speaking with hosts at The Talk, she explained BlizzCon was her third convention this year. She admitted to frequently dressing up in order to go unnoticed by fans at the conventions. "If I keep moving, nobody recognizes me," she said.
