NEW YORK, Oct. 29 (UPI) -- Forest Whitaker will make his Broadway debut as the star of the revival of Eugene O'Neill's Hughie starting in early February, it was announced Thursday.

According to Playbill, Hughie will begin showings Feb. 5 with its official opening night taking place at Booth Theater on Feb. 25. Academy Award-winning actor Whitaker will be joined by guest star and Tony winner Frank Wood in the on-stage drama.

Hughie, honored four times with the Pulitzer Prize and last revived almost two decades ago, is directed by Michael Grandage, who has also directed Broadway plays like The Cripple of Inishmaan (2014) and Red (2010).

Whitaker will play Erie Smith opposite Wood's A Night Clerk in the two-character play. The Butler actor's Broadway role is one previously held by other Hollywood and Broadway greats including Jason Robards and Al Pacino.
