LONDON, Oct. 23 (UPI) -- Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, an upcoming play developed by J.K. Rowling has now been revealed to act as the official eighth story in the Harry Potter series.

Rowling's official Harry Potter website, Pottermore, released an official statement Friday detailing the play's synopsis and when fans can expect tickets to go on sale.

"It was always difficult being Harry Potter and it isn't much easier now that he is an overworked employee of the Ministry of Magic, a husband and father of three school-age children," reads the synopsis."While Harry grapples with a past that refuses to stay where it belongs, his youngest son Albus must struggle with the weight of a family legacy he never wanted. As past and present fuse ominously, both father and son learn the uncomfortable truth: sometimes, darkness comes from unexpected places."

Set 19 years after the last chapter in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows, this new stage production will pick up after Harry bid farewell to his eldest sons, James Sirius and Albus Severus at Platform Nine and Three-Quarters.

The first poster for the play was also revealed Thursday depicting a young boy huddled inside a nest with wings, likely to be Harry's son Albus.

The two-part play written by Jack Throne in collaboration with Rowling will be directed by Olivier and Tony award-winner John Tiffany. Tickets are set to go on sale Oct. 28 for the play's first run inside London's Palace Theatre next summer.

"The story only exists because the right group of people came together with a brilliant idea about how to present Harry Potter on stage, said Rowling. "I'm confident that when audiences see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child they will understand why we chose to tell this story in this way."

Earlier this month, Rowling announced that the Harry Potter books would be receiving a digital makeover as the best-selling series became available for purchase on Apple's iBooks.
