NEW YORK, Oct. 16 (UPI) -- Singer and actress Demi Lovato has landed a contract with Wilhelmina Models.

The 22-year-old star signed with the New York agency Thursday, just one day prior to releasing her new album, Confident. She joins model Karreuche Tran, actress Ruby Rose and singer Nick Jonas on the company's celebrity roster.

"I'm thrilled to sign my first major modeling contract with Wilhelmina," Lovato said in a press release Friday. "I'm very excited to see where our work together will go creatively as I enter the next phase of my career and continue to develop as an artist."

"We are so thrilled to represent such a sophisticated, confident and talented woman, as Demi," CEO Alex Vaickus added. "She has proved that she is an accomplished singer and actress, and we look forward to seeing her success within the modeling realm."

Confident is Lovato's fifth studio album, and includes the singles "Cool for the Summer" and "Confident." The singer released the title track's music video last week, which was directed by Robert Rodriguez and features actress Michelle Rodriguez.
