LOS ANGELES, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- Claire Danes was honored with a star Thursday on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The 36-year-old actress received the plaque in recognition of her contributions to television. Danes came to fame as Angela Chase on ABC drama My So-Called Life, and has starred as Carrie Mathison on Showtime series Homeland since 2011.
"It was like she was this alien," former My So-Called Life executive producer Marshall Herskovitz recalledat the ceremony. "We didn't know how to talk to her because we were in such awe of her talent. We weren't afraid of her because of her behavior ... it was because she was so brilliant."
Danes' parents, Christopher and Carla Danes, were on hand to see their daughter receive the star. The actress is a four-time Emmy nominee for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for Homeland, winning in 2012 and 2013.
Danes will return as Carrie on Homeland Season 5 starting Oct. 4. The actress is also known for such films as The Hours, The Family Stone and Stardust, and last appeared in As Cool as I Am with James Marsden.
