LOS ANGELES, Sept. 25 (UPI) -- A judge has now officially approved reality star Caitlyn Jenner's request to legally change her name and gender in court on Friday.

Us Weekly confirmed reports Jenner filed documents for a gender and name change in Los Angeles on Sept. 15. At the time of the filing, Jenner asked that her medical history remain private due to the death threats she's received since coming out as transgender.

The 65-year-old famously made the announcement during a highly viewed 20/20 interview with Diane Sawyer in April. Jenner debuted her new name, Caitlyn, in the July issue of Vanity Fair.

Earlier this month, Jenner wrapped up the final episode of her E! series, I Am Cait by burying the hatchet with former spouse Kris Jenner and finding happiness in her new identity.

"The last few months for me have been the most amazing months of my life," Jenner said tearfully on the season finale. "I'm at a great place in life, and for the first time I feel like I fit in someplace being my authentic self."
