LONDON, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- British designer Stella McCartney released a limited edition lingerie design for breast cancer survivors named after her late mother, Linda Louise McCartney.

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness month in October, the designer and daughter of singer Paul McCartney has launched a special campaign to help raise awareness of breast cancer and those who survive it.

McCartney's limited edition design is a post-double mastectomy compression bra called Louise Listening, and will be sold exclusively on the designer's website. The light rose cotton bra features feminine details, which are usually ignored in today's mastectomy bras for the sake of practicality.

"We wanted to bring something feminine and beautiful into a bra that is taboo," McCartney said in a statement. "There are so many different emotions attached to the tragic realities of having had a double mastectomy...we just wanted to make something that allows women undergoing this to have something to be proud of, something with no shame attached."

In addition to the special compression bra, McCartney will also release at the beginning of October a new lingerie set to help remind wearers to be aware of early signs of the disease. The Alina Playing set, a hot pink bra and panty combination, is being advertised for the line by model Cara Delevingne.

"We were so thrilled when Cara said yes to this project because she represents a generation of young women that we are really trying to reach and catch the attention of," McCartney said. "Cara also brings a level of coolness to the campaign; so there is no taboo, no shame involved."

The lingerie set is meant to raise not only awareness but funds for breast cancer foundations in the United Kingdom, United States and Australia.
