MILAN, Italy, Sept. 24 (UPI) -- Nicole Kidman discussed the importance of staying close to her family in an interview with DuJour magazine published this week.
The busy 48-year-old Australian actress who is mother to 22-year-old Isabella Cruise and 20-year-old Connor Cruise with ex-husband Tom Cruise and 7-year-old Sunday and 4-year-old Faith with husband Keith Urban, told the publication she texts her kids but not Urban.
"I have four children, so to stay in touch with them is very important," she said. "I'm definitely engaged in [technology] but I don't let it rule my life. My husband and I never text each other. We never do. Once in a blue moon, we'll text. But mainly we say, 'I want to hear your voice.'"
Kidman and Cruise were married from 1990 to 2001, with Isabella and Connor choosing to reside with their dad after the split. The actress previously told Vanity Fair she "utterly respects" the pair's decision to become Scientologists like Cruise, and praised her kids to Women's Weekly last year.
"They are generous, kind and hardworking," she lauded. "And these are traits that I love to see in my children. They live with Tom, which was their choice. I'd love them to live with us, but what can you do?"
Kidman last appeared in Strangerland with Hugo Weaving, and is scheduled for The Secret in Their Eyes with Julia Roberts. The actress is also slated for Queen of the Desert with James Franco, Genius with Colin Firth and Lion with Dev Patel.
