NEW YORK, Sept. 22 (UPI) -- Amy Schumer is the next comedian to land a high-profile book deal, and according to reports, she's been a behind-the-scenes power-player throughout the way.

After an auction wrapped up last week surrounding the 34-year-old Trainwreck star's book, Entertainment Weekly reports Schumer raked in between $8-10 million from the winning publishing house -- more than many comedians before her. The outlet reports editors had to place a bid on the book before even landing a meeting with the star to discuss it.

The Emmy-award winning actress joins -- and maybe surpasses -- the ranks of fellow funny people-turned-authors including Tina Fey (who made $5 million for her Bossypants), Lena Dunham ($3.7 million for Not That Kind of Girl), Aziz Ansari ($3.5 million for Modern Romance) and duo Mindy Kaling and B.J. Novak ($7.5 million for an upcoming title).

Schumer's representative has yet to confirm the star's book deal, but earlier this month, Publisher's Weekly reported the project's top-secret material -- supposedly an essay collection -- was being shopped to potential buyers in New York by agent David Kuhn. The agent and his company, Kuhn Projects, has also represented celebs and artists such as Marina Abramovic, Sara Bareilles, Neil Patrick Harris and Julianne Moore.
