NEW YORK, Sept. 18 (UPI) -- YouTube comedian Nicole Arbour appeared on The View Wednesday to defend her controversial "Dear Fat People" video.

The clip features Arbour commenting on obesity, its complications and people who are diagnosed with the disease. The video was taken down by YouTube soon after it attracted heavy backlash.

"Fat-shaming is not a thing," Arbour says in the video. "That's a race card, with no race."

On The View, the comedian made it clear that she would not be apologizing for the video's content and that she is not bothered by all the criticism she has faced.

"That video was made to offend people, just the way I do with all the other videos," she said on the show. "It's just satire, I'm just being silly. I'm just having a bit of fun, and that's what we did. The topic was actually voted in, by fans, some of them, who are fat. They're like, 'You can't make fun of some people, and not make fun of me, too."

Host Joy Behar didn't agree with Arbour and shot back. "I'm a comic, so if I'm gonna do a joke about a fat person, I'm gonna say I'm fat first. You're not fat — that's the problem."

She continued,"You take it on yourself first, and then maybe you can do a joke, but you didn't do that and then you sort of hide behind this, 'Well, it's not healthy.' That's bull, and you know it. You don't care about their health. Come on."

On Friday, sponsors began to pull out from The View after hosts mocked Miss America contestant Kelly Johnson for making a speech in her nurse uniform from the pageant's talent portion. "Why does she have a doctor's stethoscope on?" Behar asked, unaware nurses too wear stethoscopes as part of the job.
