YouTube star Nicole Arbour fired after fat-shaming video

WASHINGTON, Sept. 11 (UPI) -- YouTube social commentator Nicole Arbour was recently fired from an anti-bullying film over one of her more recent clips called "Dear Fat People."

The Canadian comedian was recently confirmed as choreographer for Pat Mills' Don't Talk to Irene but was dropped when Mills saw the video. "[I'm making] a dance movie, so obviously we needed a choreographer," Mills told Zap2it. "I was supposed to get together with her this week for what she called a 'choreo party' to watch my favorite dance scenes and talk ideas."

But after watching Arbour's alleged fat-shaming video, Mills said he never wants to see her again. "I'm gay. I was bullied a lot as a kid," he told the outlet. "I'm no stranger to ridicule and loneliness."

As of Friday, "Dear Fat People" reached over 3.5 million views. The six-minute video features Arbour commenting on obesity, its complications and people who are diagnosed with the disease. The video was taken down by the video service soon after it attracted heavy backlash.

"Fat-shaming is not a thing," Arbour says in the clip. "That's the race card, with no race."

Arbour reportedly claimed censorship against YouTube for pulling the video because it doesn't break any of the site's user guidelines. "We literally broke the Internet...With comedy" Arbour said on Twitter last week.

Mills said watching the video was similar to being "punched in the gut."

"I was so upset I was shaking like Shelley DuVall in The Shining," he said. "Bullies like Nicole Arbour are the reason I am making this movie...I'm tired of body shaming. It's everywhere."
