WEST HOLLYWOOD, Calif., Aug. 26 (UPI) -- Amanda Bynes avoided photographers during an outing Tuesday by taking refuge inside a police station.

After picking up some items from a Nasty Gal boutique, several photographers began following the former Amanda Show host and her shopping buddy. In order to shake them, she made way to the West Hollywood police station.

Police told E! News Bynes was "concerned for her physical welfare," and walked in on her own, leaving the station without an escort after receiving tips on how to avoid paparazzi.

The shopping trip and subsequent police visit occurred less than 10 days after the former star -- who had some run-ins with law enforcement herself in the past -- returned to Twitter to share a selfie with designer Michael Costello after a long hiatus.
