HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Vanessa Hudgens revealed her father, Greg, is battling stage four cancer Wednesday night.

During an acceptance speech at this year's Industry Dance Awards in California, the 26-year-old shared her most recent experiences with cancer and dedicated her Breakthrough Performer award to those who've struggled with and around it.

"Last year, my boyfriend, Austin [Butler], lost his mom, Lori, to cancer, and my dad has just been recently diagnosed with stage four cancer," the former High School Musical actress said. "Let me tell you, I hate cancer. I hate cancer with every cell of my being."

"This award, it means a lot to me but I dedicate it to my boyfriend's mom, Lori, my dad, and to all the families out there who are struggling with this because it really takes a strong person and a strong family to be able to help those out who are going through this," Hudgens concluded.

Three weeks ago, the Gigi performer shared a photo with her dad on Instagram, asking followers to "pray for his healing." Hudgens did not announce her father's diagnoses until Thursday's award ceremony.
