CHICAGO, Aug. 15 (UPI) -- This year's Lollapalooza festival caused less damage to Chicago's Grant Park than the previous year.

Thanks to little rain, the event's promoters reportedly owe an approximate $236,223 to the park for repairs, about $30,000 less than its 2014 estimated bill.

"The one thing that really saved it was it's very dry out," Grant Park Conservancy president Bob O'Neill told Red Eye Chicago. "There wasn't any turning up of the soil and all the mud."

Rain only plagued the festival for a short time on the third day this year, although it usually rains every day. Festival goers were asked to leave the event 45 minutes early on the last day of Lollapalooza to avoid an expected storm.

According to Lollapalooza's contract with the Chicago Park District, C3 Presents -- the production company behind the annual festival -- is responsible for cleanup and repair. Sodding, seeding, soil restoration, aeration and rototilling are needed, reports say.

The Chicago Sun Times reports repairs are already underway and will remain so until late September. The park is expected to reopen after restoration by the month's end.
