Frank Langella to star in Broadway premiere of 'The Father'

NEW YORK, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Three-time Tony Award-winner Frank Langella is to return to Broadway this spring in the American premiere of the play The Father, the Manhattan Theatre Club announced.

Penned by France's Florian Zeller and translated by Christopher Hampton, the stage drama is being directed by Doug Hughes.

The limited engagement of The Father will begin previews March 22 for an April 12 opening night at MTC's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Additional casting, creative team, and other listings information will be announced in the coming weeks.

Zeller's play is not related to the August Strindberg work of the same title.

"The Father offers a fascinating look inside the mind of Andre, a retired dancer living with his adult daughter Anne and her husband," press notes said. "Or is he a retired engineer receiving a visit from Anne who has moved away with her boyfriend? Why do strangers keep turning up in his room? And where has he left his watch?"
