First 'Crimson Peak' international poster revealed

WASHINGTON, Aug. 6 (UPI) -- Distributors Universal Pictures and Legendary Pictures revealed the first international poster for their eerie new thriller, Crimson Peak Wednesday.

Cast member Tom Hiddleston tweeted the image, featuring himself and leading ladies Mia Wasikowska and Jessica Chastain looking strikingly sinister.

"Afternoon all. Here's the international poster for #CrimsonPeak. Can't wait to show it you all finally. Not long now," the Avengers actor wrote.

Directed by Guillermo Del Toro (Pacific Rim), Crimson Peak follows the story of a young writer (Wasikowska) as she succumbs to the temptation of leaving her old life behind for a mysterious suitor (Hiddleston) to find his mansion is more mysterious -- and dangerous -- than she could imagine.

The supernatural mystery flick was co-written by del Toro and Callum Greene and is produced by Jillian Share. Charlie Hunnam and Jim Beaver will also appear in Crimson Peak.

The film meets the big screen Oct. 16.
