'High School Musical' stars reunite at 'Descendants' premiere

"High School Musical" premiered to 7.7 million viewers in January 2006.

BURBANK, Calif., July 27 (UPI) -- Several High School Musical stars reunited at the Descendants premiere Friday.

Ashley Tisdale, Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman, Lucas Grabeel and Olesya Rulin attended the event to show their support for the film's director, High School Musical helmer Kenny Ortega. Noticeably missing were Zac Efron and Vanessa Hudgens.

"What team? Wildcats! And how I love you all! Thank you for celebrating with me @ashleytisdale @corbinbleu @olesyarulin @_moniquecoleman @mrgrabeel #DisneyDescendants," Ortega captioned a group shot on Instagram.

Descendants is a Disney Channel original movie scheduled to debut July 31 at 8 p.m. ET. The film stars Kristin Chenoweth, Dove Cameron, Keegan Connor Tracy and Sarah Jeffery, and follows the children of Disney heroes and villains as they attend prep school.

High School Musical premiered on the Disney Channel in 2006, and inspired sequels High School Musical 2, High School Musical 3: Senior Year and spinoff Sharpay's Fabulous Adventure. The film's soundtrack peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200.
