HEREFORD, Texas, July 25 (UPI) -- The death of country singer Daron Norwood, whose body was discovered in his Texas apartment, is under investigation, but foul play is not suspected, authorities said.

Police found Norwood when they responded to a call to his apartment. No other details regarding the circumstances of his death were immediately disclosed.

Norwood was known for his 1990s hits "If It Wasn't for Her, I Wouldn't Have You" and "Cowboys Don't Cry." He stepped away from the spotlight nearly 20 years ago to deal with his own substance-abuse issues and founded Keep It Straight, an anti-drug, alcohol and violence program for young people, in 1997.
