While Fincher and Reznor have worked together in the past, Reznor had been unavailable at the time to help create the music for Fight Club.
Spin reports prior to the confirmation at Comic-Con, Palahniuk had talked about the possible adaptation with Jeff Goldsmith on his podcast.
So @chuckpalahniuk told me he's working with David Fincher & @trent_reznor to do a #FightClub rock opera - an enhanced version of the film!

Details on when the rock opera will open have yet to be released.
