NEW YORK, July 15 (UPI) -- Brandy Norwood faced an unimpressed crowd on the New York subway this week.

The 36-year-old singer and actress recorded herself singing on the 1 train in an awkward video that has since gone viral. The footage sees an incognito Norwood fail to garner praise or recognition after breaking out into "Home" from The Wiz.

"What y'all thought of that? Y'all thought that was cool? Hello?" the star asked after she was ignored. "Nobody heard anything? Nobody cares? Okay. I just gave that my all and nobody said nothing. The people in New York are very rude," she jokingly said to the camera.

Norwood later explained the stunt on her blog, writing, "Recently, Frank Silent and I took a little subway ride after I'd left the gym ... I decided to hit the subway and sing my heart out. You've GOTTA check out this video and see why this fun-filled morning left me asking: Can a Sistah get ONE fan?!"

Norwood released her first album, Brandy, in September 1994, and went on to star as the title character on UPN sitcom Moesha for six seasons. She last released Two Eleven in October 2012, and will complete her Broadway debut as Roxy Hart in Chicago in August.
