WASHINGTON, July 15 (UPI) -- Jennifer Lawrence teams up with Robert De Niro and Bradley Cooper in her new film Joy.

Lawrence plays the title character in the film, and according to Entertainment Weekly, David O. Russell, who directed Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, based the story true story of Joy Mangano.

The film which tells the story of Mangano and her rise to becoming the owner of Ingenious Designs and the Miracle Mop, focuses on the character from her childhood to her struggles to start her company.

E! News reports Dascha Polanco, Diane Ladd, Virginia Madsen, Édgar Ramírez, Elisabeth Röhm and Isabella Rossellini join De Niro and Cooper in the cast.

Joy is due out in theaters Christmas Day.
