LOS ANGELES, June 28 (UPI) -- Oliver and Kate Hudson's biological father has harsh words for his two eldest children.

"I say to them now, 'I set you free,'" Bill Hudson, 65, told the Daily Mail on Sunday. "I had five birth children but I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognise Oliver and Kate as my own."

Bill spoke to the tabloid in response to his son Oliver's Father's Day Instagram post, in which the 38-year-old actor shared a photo of himself and his sister, Kate Hudson, posing with their biological father as young children.

"Happy abandonment day," Oliver, 38, captioned the photo.

Bill said he wants Oliver and Kate to stop using his last name.

"They are no longer a part of my life," Bill said. "Oliver's Instagram post was a malicious, vicious, premeditated attack. He is dead to me now. As is Kate. I am mourning their loss even though they are still walking this earth."

Bill, who ended his four-year marriage to Goldie Hawn in 1980, said the actress "willfuly alienated" him from their two children only after she started dating Kurt Russell.

"When we split up, she never had a bad word to say about me," Bill said. "But when Kurt came on the scene, the narrative changed and I became the big, bad wolf."

"I would say to her 'Goldie, why are you trashing me and saying I'm an absent father when it's simply not the case?' and she'd laugh and go, 'Oh Bill, you know it makes for a better story,'" he added.

Kate Hudson also posted a Father's Day message last week, though she referred only to Russell and called him her "pa."

"Pa, just simply..... Thank you. Happy Father's Day I love you to the moon and back," she captioned a photo of herself and the 64-year-old actor.

Bill told the Daily Mail that he often spent time with the children when they were younger. But he said Hawn continued to make an effort to "poison" Oliver and Kate against him.

"I wanted to be a father to Kate and Oliver but Goldie made it harder and harder for me to see them. It's all about control. What Goldie wants, Goldie gets," he said.

"If what he wanted was me out of their lives, then he's succeeded. I don't want to see either of my eldest children ever again. It's over," Bill added.
