NEW YORK, June 26 (UPI) -- President Obama gave a shout out to Caitlyn Jenner's Vanity Fair issue on Thursday during Logo's Trailblazers Honors.

Earlier this month, Obama shared his support for Jenner on Twitter, writing, "It takes courage to share your story." Now, POTUS is showing support once again when he gave a speech about how America has moved in the right direction for LGBT rights and equality and used the former olympian's cover as an example of acceptance.

"Tonight is a chance to celebrate, not just ten years of Logo, hahahah hahahah but ten years of extraordinary progress for our country," Obama says in the opening video. "When this network aired it's first show, gay marriage was a political wedge issue used to divide us. Today the majority of Americans live in states where they can get married, no matter who they love. Today 'Don't Ask Don't Tell' is history. We passed the hate crime law that bears Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr.'s name. And all you have to do is look at this month's cover of Vanity Fair to see how America is more accepting of people for who they truly are."

Jenner's ex-wife, Kris, also praised Caitlyn earlier this week and told Extra, "I think it's amazing, I think that someone following their dream is truly inspirational to a lot of people. You have to do what makes you happy."

A docuseries about Jenner living as a transgender woman, titled I Am Cait is set to premiere on E! on July 26.
