"My perception was that she acted like a First Lady," she said of Madison. "You know, she had to play a part, play a role every day."

LOS ANGELES, June 24 (UPI) -- Kendra Wilkinson says Holly Madison has an ulterior motive for writing her tell-all memoir.

The 30-year-old reality star slammed her 35-year-old former The Girls Next Door co-star and defended the pair's mutual ex Hugh Hefner in an interview with People magazine published Tuesday.

"How could [Holly] want kids and [to] get married to him and then, next thing you know, say these types of things about Hef?" she asked. "It's just out of revenge, and I feel bad for Hef. But you know what? He's an amazing human being."

Madison painted an unflattering portrait of Hefner and Wilkinson in her book, Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny, released this week. She and Wilkinson simultaneously dated the 88-year-old Playboy founder from 2004 to 2008.

"[Holly] wanted Hef's kids, she wanted a piece of Playboy and she wanted to marry Hef, for, obviously, his will," Wilkinson declared. "That didn't happen. So what do you think's going to happen? Revenge. So we're witnessing some revenge here."

Fellow former girlfriend Bridget Marquardt showed her support for Madison after excerpts from the memoir first surfaced, but Hefner himself said the television personality's book "rewrite[s] history" on Monday. Madison responded by asserting she told "the truth of [her] experience."
