LOS ANGELES, June 16 (UPI) -- Could it be that Hollywood has reached its max capacity of superstar hunks?

Chris Pratt's sudden burst into stardom may be putting the careers of other male actors in jeopardy.

Mainly, Ryan Reynolds.

The two actors had a similar rise to fame in the Hollywood realm. Both appeared on the small screen early in their careers and starred in romantic comedies (Reynolds with The Proposal and Pratt in The Five-Year Engagement).

They both were even casted as the superhero in major Marvel movies. Pratt as the over-confident and quirky space warrior in Guardians of the Galaxy and Reynolds as the oath-pledging, signet ring wearing hero in the Green Lantern.

But according to The Washington Post, while Guardians became the box office hit that launched Pratt into a very successful movie career, Reynolds' role in Green Lantern did nothing to "flip his star wattage up to incandescent." The movie that succeeded the box office flop ("R.I.P.D") further derailed his career.

Pratt, on the other hand, went from one hit to the next when he lent his voice for the popular animated adventure-comedy The LEGO Movie, solidifying his stance as Hollywood's new action hero.

Pratt rode that wave into this weekend where his leading role in the long awaited thriller Jurassic World broke box office records in becoming the first movie to gross more than half a billion dollars worldwide in an opening weekend.

But where does all that leave Reynolds?

The Washington Post had some advice for the struggling actor and it's coming from the pages of Pratt's book. The Post suggested that Reynolds' acting mojo took a dip because he took on to many solo roles as the "hero," this in turn affected his "casual-dude" persona and hardened his exterior.

Along with being "savvy at picking...parts," the Post advised Reynolds to "convey more charm that disarms, with a wink of vulnerability and a core of humanity" and pair that with "must-see" CGI effects (as Pratt did in his role in "Jurassic World").

With his upcoming role as Marvel's anti-hero "Deadpool" Reynolds may have found a way out of his acting slump.

The actor told Yahoo Movies the major factor that lead to the demise of the initial Marvel movie was the lack of a script prior to production. "Nobody auditioning for the role of 'Green Lantern' was given the opportunity to read the script because the script didn't exist," Reynolds said.

With filming wrapped up last month, and the premiere date set for February 2016, movie goers and critics will have to wait and see if Reynolds' Deadpool character portrayal and the movie's post-production CGI will restore honor to Reynolds' above-the-title reputation.
