GOTHENBURG, Sweden, June 13 (UPI) -- Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl broke his leg during a fall off of a stage at a concert Friday in Sweden, then returned to finish the show after being treated by medics backstage.

"Now look! I think I just broke my leg. I think I really broke my leg," CNN reported Grohl told the crowd.

"So, look," the 46-year-old musician continued. "You have my promise, right now, that the Foo Fighters -- we're going to come back -- and finish this show. ... Right now, I'm going to go to the hospital, I'm going to fix my leg, but then I'm going to come back."

Grohl asked drummer Taylor Hawkins to entertain the audience while he sought medical attention.

People magazine said Grohl returned to the stage shortly after medics backstage bandaged his leg.

The band later confirmed via Twitter that Grohl's leg was, indeed, broken.

"Thank you Gothenburg. That was amazing," the caption of an X-ray read.
