LOS ANGELES, June 10 (UPI) -- Katy Perry's management team has denied rumors that she wants to hit back at Taylor Swift with a song called "1984."

"Katy Perry's managers at Direct Management Group confirm that this story is completely false," a spokesman for the "Roar" singer told Billboard on Tuesday. "Katy Perry was not involved in writing, singing, recording or registering this song."

Several media outlets reported Monday that Perry had registered the track title "1984" with licensing group BMI, prompting speculation that she planned to record a song about Swift.

Swift's latest album, 1989, includes the single "Bad Blood," which is widely believed to be about the 25-year-old singer's feud with Perry over the hiring of backup dancers.

Sources told TMZ that Andreas Carlsson, a producer who worked with Perry, registered the song without the singer's input.
