Na rose to prominence in tennis in the early 2000s after turning professional at age 16 in 1999. She was the women's singles champion in both the 2011 French Open and the 2014 Australian Open, and is widely credited with popularizing the sport in Asia.
Na ranked No. 2 in the world as of February 2014, but retired due to a chronic knee injury in September. She appeared on the cover of Time magazine in 2013, and held endorsement deals with Nike, Rolex, Samsung and Mercedes.
