NEW YORK, June 1 (UPI) -- "Good people do questionable things all the time," says Jennifer Lopez in the new teaser for her upcoming NBC drama Shades of Blue.

The New York-born entertainer, 45, tweeted the brief promo clip Monday, hinting to its release next year: "#ShadesOfBlueNBC coming soon!!!! #StayTuned #Early2016," she wrote. She will play the show's protagonist Harlee Santos, a dirty cop-turned-FBI informant who attempts to walk the fine line between right and wrong while keeping it together for her good-hearted daughter.

"We know that certain things are wrong, but in certain situations, doing the wrong thing is the right thing," Lopez says in the video. "It's about that internal struggle that every single person has."

The Maid in Manhattan actress will perform alongside Ray Liotta (Lieutenant Bill Wozniak) and Drea de Matteo (Detective Tess Nazario) in the drama.

"Jennifer's character Harlee says it best," says Matteo. "We don't want to start out wanting to deceive people or wanting to walk down the wrong road but sometimes life happens, sometimes it's about survival."

"There's a lot of gray areas," Liotta continues in the preview. "Morality is different for everybody."

NBC announced in 2014 that it has ordered 13 hour-long episodes of Shades of Blue, which is executively produced by Adi Hasak, Jack Orman, Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Jennifer Lopez, Ryan Seacrest, and Benny Medina. Filming for the 2015-16 season started this year, but no official premier date has been set.

The drama is directed by Barry Levinson (The Humbling, Wag the Dog).
