MALIBU, Calif., May 26 (UPI) -- Meek Mill is putting engagement rumors with Nicki Minaj to rest.

In an interview with Fader magazine the cover star said that the couple are still getting to know each other and are not engaged quite yet.

Rumors started swirling last month when the "Feeling Myself" songstress posted a photograph of a 15-carat heart-shaped diamond on her ring finger.

"It's definitely real, but it ain't really time to get married yet. We're still learning each other, feeling each other out," Mill said in the interview.

"I ain't engaged," he told fellow rapper T.I., who also spoke to Minaj's boyfriend for the magazine and asked him to clarify details about the couple's status.

T.I. responded, "You never asked her, 'Will you be my girlfriend?' But she is your girlfriend. You may not have asked her, 'Will you marry me?' But you're engaged...I've said my part, as long as you know what's going on."

Even people close to the couple like Drake and Mill's grandmother believed the duo got engaged and congratulated them on their announcement, which the rapper confirms is untrue.

Back in the December 2014/January 2015 issue of Complex magazine Minaj spoke about marriage and where she wants to be in the future.

"If I'm done with my fifth album and I don't have a child by then, no matter how much money I have, I would be disappointed, as a woman, because I feel like I was put here to be a mother. I have definitely put off the wife thing because I don't want people in my business. I'd rather not do anything that's going to be on paper but I definitely will be married before I have my baby. I want to make sure I do it in that order. I've always felt like that since I was young; my mother always put that in my head."
