CANNES, France, May 13 (UPI) -- Academy Award-winning actress Lupita Nyong'o turned heads Wednesday at the Cannes Film Festival's Opening Ceremony with a fresh, flowing green dress that was striking from just about every angle.

The Gucci chiffon dress was the clear winner of the red carpet, featuring a mini capelet, hand-painted floral crystals and a plunging neckline. What really drew attention, though, was the flowing silhouette created when she gave a twirl.

Nyong'o paired the gown with diamond drop Chopard earrings, a double-strand head band and large rings.

She shared a photo of the dress on Instagram, saying her hair style was inspired by the women of Uganda. She described the color of the dress as "grasshopper green."
