LOS ANGELES, May 7 (UPI) -- Miranda Lambert and husband Blake Shelton enjoy a country lifestyle at their home in Tishomingo, Okla.

The 31-year-old singer and 38-year-old The Voice coach are able to retreat to their rural abode when not pursuing their various projects. Lambert is featured in the June issue of Country Living, and told the magazine she thrives in wide-open spaces.

"I grew up in Lindale, Texas, where the town motto is Good Country Living, so you could say country life has been in my blood since birth," she related. "Even now, my husband Blake and I live ... roughly two hours from any major city. There's just a peace that comes with country life."

"My dad taught me to live off the land," she shared. "I now have my own garden, but Blake is really the gardener. This year, we're planting tomatoes and strawberries to make jam. I have a little downtime this summer, so I'm looking forward to this task."

Lambert and Shelton live on the property with their 15 rescue animals, and are building a new house on the lot. The singer revealed she writes best when at "home on the porch with her guitar," and said the country is perfect for letting her "mind drift to a creative place."

Lambert released her fifth studio album, Platinum, in June 2014, and debuted a music video for "Little Red Wagon" in March. Shelton dropped his ninth record, Bringing Back the Sunshine, in September 2014, and currently serves as a coach on NBC reality competition The Voice.
