LOS ANGELES, May 6 (UPI) -- Director Sean Anders will direct the upcoming Mean Moms film and may feature Jennifer Aniston in a leading role, Deadline Hollywood reports.

In the spirit of Tina Fey's Mean Girls, Mean Moms follows the story of a happily married mother of two who relocates to the high-class suburbs from small-town America and gets shocked by the world of competitive parenting. Whether Aniston will play a mean mom or the naive newcomer is still under wraps -- but so is the answer to whether she will even be in the female-driven flick.

Aniston is reportedly keeping her options open for the summer and has not confirmed her participation in the project.

Both Mean Girls and Mean Moms are screen adaptions of advice books by Rosalind Wiseman. The family-oriented comedy is based off of Wiseman's, Queen Bee Moms And King Pin Dads: Dealing With The Parents, Teachers, Coaches, And Counselors Who Can Make -- or Break -- Your Child's Future whereas the 2004 cult classic was based off of Queen Bees And Wannabes.

Anders previously worked with Aniston for New Line's Horrible Bosses 2, which grossed $106 million worldwide. He adapted this newest screenplay alongside John Morris, who has co-written with him on We're the Millers, Dumb and Dumber, Horrible Bosses 2 and Hot Tub Time Machine.

The release date for the upcoming Mean Moms comedy is still unclear, having originally been scheduled to open this month. Variety reports that it was postponed last year in order to make room for this year's summer release, Hot Pursuit featuring Sofia Vergara and Reese Witherspoon.
