NEW YORK, May 5 (UPI) -- Sarah Jessica Parker's flaming headdress made the biggest statement at Monday's Met Gala, one of fashion's biggest nights.

The former Sex and the City star donned an large red headpiece by famed hat designer Philip Treacy. The top of the headdress was made to look like flames, with two large tassels hanging from the sides. Parker paired the avant-garde hat with a slinky black gown from her collection with H&M.

The fashionista is known for walking the red carpet in showstopping headpieces. She sported a giant Philip Treacy mohawk to the punk-themed Met Gala in 2013.

Parker recently told Vogue that she always looks forward to choosing her Met Gala looks based on the theme, which changes every year.

"I research," Parker said. "I look at old images, I think quite seriously about designers, because actually, it's quite fun to do so and you can learn a huge amount about history, fashion, and art."

This year's Met Gala theme was based on Costume Institute's new exhibit "China: Through the Looking Glass."
