NEW YORK, April 29 (UPI) -- Mick Jagger paid tribute to late girlfriend L'Wren Scott on Tuesday.

The 71-year-old Rolling Stones singer took to Twitter to share a photo of Scott on what would have been her 50th birthday. The designer hanged herself at age 49 in March 2014.

"Remembering L'Wren on her birthday," he captioned the picture. "Photo by Jean Pigozzi."

The couple were together for over a decade, and Jagger recently established a scholarship in Scott's name at the Central Saint Martins school in London. The program will select one student in 2015, 2016 and 2017 to receive free tuition.

"I am still struggling to understand how my love and best friend could end her life in this tragic way," Jagger wrote on Facebook shortly after Scott's death. "We spent many wonderful years together and had made a great life for ourselves."
