LOS ANGELES, April 14 (UPI) -- Elizabeth Olsen purposely avoids social media.
The 26-year-old actress explained her aversion to Instagram and Twitter in an interview for the March issue of Fashion. Unlike many of her celebrity peers, Olsen told the magazine she rejects such sites in order to protect her privacy.
"I feel like that's how people control their image," she opined. "My image, in my mind, is just to disappear ... I feel like you let people touch you when you have Instagram or Twitter, and I don't want to be touched all the time. I'm not going to do it -- ever."
Olsen addressed the matter again with People at the Avengers: Age of Ultron premiere Monday. Although she reiterated her distaste for social media, the actress offered a lighthearted reason for her opposition.
"If I were ever hacked, it would only be hundreds and hundreds of videos of me lip synching in my car," she confessed. "If I did [have an Instagram], that would be the only thing on it. I send [the videos] to others ... and it's been going on for a couple years. It's a whole other skill."
Olsen will star as Marvel superhero Scarlet Witch in Avengers: Age of Ultron come May 1. The actress is known for Spike Lee's remake of Oldboy and Gareth Edwards' Godzilla, and also scheduled for I Saw the Light with Tom Hiddleston.
