DUNBLANE, Scotland, April 12 (UPI) -- Andy Murray married his longtime girlfriend, Kim Sears, in his hometown of Dunblane, Scotland on Saturday.
The 27-year-old tennis star wore a blue tartan kilt to the ceremony, which took place at the historic Dunblane Cathedral. Sears wore an embroidered gown by Jenny Packham.
Murray met Sears at the 2005 U.S. Open. The couple dated for nearly a decade until Murray proposed last November.
Murray took to Twitter on Saturday to celebrate his nuptials with a series of cheerful emoticons.

He also received well-wishes from fellow tennis star Rafael Nadal, who tweeted, "Congrats @andy_murray & Kim for your wedding. I wish you all the best!"
Murray, a big-name sports star in Britain, told The Telegraph April 6 that he would have an intimate wedding.
"There won't be any celebrities as such," Murray said. "I don't have any celebrity friends so it wasn't something that was planned. Everyone who we're close to, people we've spent a lot of time with in the past but also people we see ourselves spending time with in the future."
Murray has two Grand Slam titles under his belt, including the 2012 U.S. Open and 2013's Wimbledon.
