Kelly Clarkson reveals she dated Justin Guarini

NEW YORK, March 6 (UPI) -- Kelly Clarkson used to date Justin Guarini.

The 32-year-old singer finally admitted as much Thursday on Watch What Happens Live. Clarkson and Guarini met as contestants on season one of American Idol in 2002, and co-starred in From Justin to Kelly in 2003.

"We didn't date during Idol, which everybody thought we were dating," she revealed to host Andy Cohen. "I feel like we weren't dating during the movie. But I feel like maybe we did."

"We did date a little bit," she allowed. "I think any two people who are thrown together that much [would eventually date]. 'Timeless,' you put on that song from From Justin to Kelly -- you can't fight it!"

Guarini went on to marry Reina Capodici in September 2009, while Clarkson married Brandon Blackstock in October 2013. Guarini and his wife welcomed their first child, son William, in April 2011, and Clarkson and her husband welcomed daughter River Rose in June 2014.

Clarkson released her fifth studio album, Piece by Piece, in February, while Guarini last debuted Stranger Things Have Happened in 2005. Clarkson earned praise this week for sharing a message of self-acceptance after British television personality Katie Hopkins criticized her weight.
