NEW YORK, March 4 (UPI) -- Katy Perry wanted Snoop Dog to join her onstage at the Super Bowl during her performance of "California Gurls", but the NFL didn't want him there.

Perry, 30, told Elle magazine the organization was worried the rapper might bring unwanted attention to the game because of his feud with Iggy Azalea.

"Not that was it -- that was just the tipping point," she said. "You can't have that kind of hate at the Super Bowl. They already have enough female-hate problems; they don't need any more."

The issue with Snoop Dog and Azalea arose from a video in which he's reportedly heard calling her the c-word.

Perry's Super Bowl performance featured a surprise appearance from rapper Missy Elliot.
