SINALOA, Mexico, Feb. 26 (UPI) -- Mexican singer-songwriter Ariel Camacho was killed in a car crash on a highway just outside of his native Sinaloa. He was 22.
Camacho's record label told Billboard magazine he died in a collision Wednesday while touring to support the re-release of his El Karma album. No other details were immediately available.
"My heart is broken by the loss of Ariel Camacho," Angel Del Villar, president and founder of the Regional Mexican label DEL Records, said in a statement. "I knew he was going to transform the genre in Mexico and the United States. Millions of people would have become fans and would have gotten to know the man I did."
