Stephen Colbert to guest star on 'The Mindy Project'

Mindy Kaling tweeted the news Saturday posting a picture of herself and Colbert in costume as Father Michael O'Donnell.

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 23 (UPI) -- Stephen Colbert is returning to television as a priest in an episode of The Mindy Project.

The show's star, Mindy Kaling, tweeted the news Saturday, posting a picture of herself and Colbert in costume. "Coming soon to #themindyproject," she wrote in the caption.

Colbert signed off from Comedy Central's The Colbert Report in December in preparation to take over CBS' The Late Show in the fall. The first episode of Colbert's new talk show will air on Sept. 8.

No date has been set for his cameo on Kaling's show. Reality star Kris Jenner will also guest star on the Fox comedy this season.
