Vanilla Ice arrested for residential burglary in Florida

The rapper reportedly stole furniture, a pool heater and other items from a vacant home.

LANTANA, Fla., Feb. 18 (UPI) -- Vanilla Ice was arrested for an alleged residential burglary Wednesday in Lantana, Fla.

Police said the 47-year-old rapper, born Robert Van Winkle, is suspected of taking several pieces of furniture, a pool heater, bicycles and other items from a vacant home between December 2014 and February.

Vanilla Ice is renovating the house next door, and emerged as a suspect during the investigation. Law officials issued a search warrant, and the stolen goods were discovered at a property under the rapper's care. He volunteered to provide a sworn statement to detectives, and was taken into custody.

Vanilla Ice is best known for his 1990 single "Ice Ice Baby," and released his sixth studio album, W.T.F. (Wisdom, Tenacity and Focus), in 2011. The recording artist renovates homes for his DIY Network reality series, The Vanilla Ice Project.
