LOS ANGELES, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Maggie Q and Dylan McDermott are officially engaged.

The 35-year-old actress confirmed the news in an interview with E!, nearly a month after word of the engagement first got out. Maggie Q confessed she never considered herself the marrying type, but lauded McDermott as her best friend and husband-to-be.

"I'll tell you this much, he more told me that we were gonna be married, which I think is so funny," she revealed of the 53-year-old actor's proposal. "Because he says, 'You can't ask Maggie because you can't take the risk of Maggie saying no.'"

"This is a person that I wake up laughing with. Truly, in the first few moments of waking up in the morning," she shared. "I work around a lot of handsome, and it doesn't matter to me ... It has to be someone who has an extraordinary heart. That's very important to me. I was lucky to find that."

McDermott was previously wed to Shiva Rose from 1995 to 2009, and has two daughters with the actress. The actor remained coy about his engagement to Maggie Q in an interview with CBS This Morning on Monday, but praised the actress as "instantly the most beautiful person in the room."

"[Maggie] is really one of the smartest people you ever meet," he declared. "She has incredible questions, she's so precise. She's not only beautiful and smart but she's also so generous as well. She's the whole thing, the real deal."

Maggie Q and McDermott currently star as Beth Davis and Jack Larsen on CBS police drama Stalker. The series airs Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET, and follows a group of detectives who solve crimes for the LAPD Threat Assessment Unit.
