HAVANA, Feb. 16 (UPI) -- Comedian Conan O'Brien capitalized on Cuba's newly rebounding relationship with the United States, becoming the first American Late Night host to film in the island nation since 1959.
Representatives for Conan and TBS confirmed O'Brien and a film crew spent the weekend in the Havana area shooting what they promise to be "a rare glimpse into the daily life of a country not often seen by American viewers."
Scott Pelley of CBS became the first news host to anchor from Cuba when CBS Evening News aired live from Havana the same day President Obama announced plans to normalize relations between the U.S. and Cuba. While Brian Williams of NBC and David Muir of ABC quickly followed suit, no late night host prior to O'Brien capitalized on the chance to make history.
O'Brien's Cuba segment will air March 4 on TBS.
