LOS ANGELES, Jan. 23 (UPI) -- Patrick Stewart is open to reprising Jean-Luc Picard in future Star Trek projects. The 74-year-old actor said as much in an Entertainment Weekly Q&A session on Facebook. Stewart portrayed the character in Star Trek: The Next Generation and several franchise films, and suggested son Daniel Stewart play a young version of the captain.

"Absolutely... if it were a really good script," he wrote. "But, the poor soul is getting old and long in the tooth. He would probably need some help mounting his horse unlike the youthful captain of 30 years ago."
Stewart revealed he and Ian McKellen will not return as Charles Xavier and Magneto in X-Men: Apocalypse this week. The actors portrayed the mutants in several X-Men movies, but the sequel will see James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender star as the young versions of the characters.
Stewart last appeared as Julliard professor Tobi Powell in dance drama Match. He will star as Walter Blunt on Seth MacFarlane-produced Starz sitcom Blunt Talk, and is scheduled for Stuck and Green Room with Anton Yelchin.
