Dakota Johnson talks her 'dwindling anonymity' and fame

NEW YORK, Jan. 21 (UPI) -- Actress Dakota Johnson opened up about her remaining days of anonymity and why she fears fame in the February issue of Vogue magazine.

The 25-year-old cover girl is no stranger to fame -- she is the daughter of actress Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson -- but her notoriety has increased significantly since she was cast to play the lead female role in the movie adaptation of E.L. James' erotic novel, Fifty Shades of Grey.

"I think about my dwindling anonymity and that's really scary because a very large part of me would be perfectly happy living on a ranch in Colorado and having babies and chickens and horses -- which I will do anyway." Johnson said.

Asked why she chose to partake in such a famed project, Johnson said it was "the story" that got her.

"I wanted to be involved because it's so different," she said, "and it's an intense love story."

Fifty Sahdes of Grey details a love affair between sadistic billionaire Christian Grey and the naive college student Anastasia Steele (Johnson). The film's director, Sam Taylor-Johnson, knew the actress was a perfect fit for the role since the day she first auditioned for the part.

"She blew us out of the water," he told Vogue. "She understood the nuance of [the] passage and how to play something delicately. Dakota has the ability to play so fragile and vulnerable, but with this underlying strength that makes you feel she is going to triumph."

Johnson, who has also appeared in blockbusters like The Social Network and 21 Jump Street, will incarnate Anastasia Steele on the big screen when the R-rated film opens in theaters on Feb. 13.
