LONDON, Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Mick Jagger has established a scholarship in honor of late girlfriend L'Wren Scott.

The 71-year-old musician created a three-year scholarship program at the Central Saint Martins school in London. One student will be selected each year to receive free tuition for the two-year program, with recipients chosen in 2015, 2016 and 2017.

"I am very grateful to receive this extremely generous scholarship package, gifted by Mick Jagger in L'Wren Scott's name," M.A. fashion course director Fabio Piras said in a statement. "Our students sacrifice much to take up this course and work extremely hard when they are here."

Scott never attended design school, but was friendly with the college's late M.A. course director, Louise Wilson. She and Jagger had been together for over a decade when she hanged herself in March 2014.
