Irina Shayk and Cristiano Ronaldo split up

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 17 (UPI) -- Irina Shayk's publicist has confirmed the Russian model has ended her five-year romance with Portugese professional soccer player Cristiano Ronaldo.

The couple met during a 2010 photo shoot for an Armani campaign.

"We can confirm Irina Shayk has ended her relationship to Cristiano Ronaldo of five years. She has been close with his family throughout the course of their relationship," Shayk's representative told Us Weekly in a statement. "Any negative rumors with regards to Irina and the Ronaldo family are completely false, and have not been a factor in the cause of the spilt. Irina has no further comment at the time."

No reason was given for the breakup.
